Nuclear Medicine Technologist

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Covenant Health (Tennessee). As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures using gamma cameras and other equipment. You will work closely with licensed medical practitioners to ensure accurate and safe imaging procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine diagnostic imaging procedures using gamma cameras and other equipment.
- Collaborate with licensed medical practitioners to ensure accurate and safe imaging procedures.
- Evaluate equipment performance and initiate corrective action when necessary.
- Maintain records for the quality control program of gamma camera imaging systems.
- Document patient clinical history and procedure information.
- Complete and verify accurate informed consents.
- Perform procedures or examinations under the order of a licensed medical practitioner for diagnostic interpretation or therapeutic intervention.
- Maintain established radiation safety standards and minimize radiation exposure to patients, healthcare personnel, and the general public.
- Handle, secure, and store radiopharmaceuticals, including procurement, identification, dose calculation, and administration.
- Document and record keeping as regulated and required by the State, Joint Commission, ACR, and NRC.
- Utilize appropriate techniques, radiopharmaceuticals, and adjunctive medications to ensure quality diagnostic images and/or laboratory results.
- Obtain biological samples for testing and perform venipuncture, starts, and maintains intravenous access as prescribed by a licensed dependent practitioner.
- Ensure correct drug, procedure, and supply charging, stock maintenance, and vendor ordering procedure.
- Practice aseptic technique and apply universal precautions at all times.
- Apply appropriate infection prevention techniques and processes.
- Educate, train, orient, and assist new staff members.
- Provide education for student technologists.
- Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Complete required education assignments.
- Work toward achieving goals and objectives, and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Must have successfully completed an educational program that is accredited by a mechanism acceptable to the NMTCB or ARRT Registry.
- Must have documentation of training/competency checklist.
- Must have authorization to inject radiopharmaceuticals notice signed by an authorized user.
- Must be certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
- Must be licensed in accordance with Tennessee guidelines.
