Position Overview:

The Director of Finance and Business is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of the district. This role encompasses a variety of essential functions aimed at ensuring the fiscal health and operational efficiency of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

1. **Financial Management:**
- Direct and supervise all accounting functions, including accounts payable, payroll, and general accounting operations.
- Develop and maintain operational and long-term budgets in collaboration with the Superintendent.

2. **Cash Flow Oversight:**
- Monitor and report on both short and long-term cash flow activities.
- Ensure all district funds are safeguarded and accurately reported.

3. **Audit and Compliance:**
- Conduct year-end audits and ensure compliance with state and federal reporting requirements.
- Provide leadership during the annual financial audit process.

4. **Insurance and Benefits Administration:**
- Manage employee insurance plans and oversee workers' compensation and unemployment claims.
- Administer the district's insurance programs, ensuring adequate coverage and compliance.

5. **Grant Management:**
- Oversee the budget development process for Federal and State grants.
- Ensure proper utilization of grant funds in accordance with established guidelines.

6. **Supervision and Leadership:**
- Supervise Business Office personnel and ensure effective operations.
- Attend board meetings to present financial reports and updates.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
- Willingness to obtain the Michigan School Business Officials Chief Financial Officer Certification.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in fund accounting or audits within educational or governmental settings.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and analytical skills are essential.
