Job Description

Position Overview: The Culinary Line Specialist plays a vital role in the kitchen by preparing a variety of food items for service, ensuring that all dishes meet the club's high standards.

Related Positions: Kitchen Assistant; Culinary Technician; Food Preparation Specialist

Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the Executive Chef.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This role does not include supervisory duties.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in food preparation and cooking is essential.

Core Competencies:

  • Efficiently prepares menu items for guests and members.
  • Adheres to all local and state health and food safety regulations.
  • Follows safety protocols for the operation and cleaning of kitchen equipment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of emergency procedures relevant to the kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and cooks a diverse range of food products, including meats, seafood, vegetables, sauces, and stocks according to established recipes.
  • Conducts inventory checks to ensure all necessary items are available for preparation.
  • Prepares food items in accordance with standard recipes and specifications.
  • Coordinates timing of orders with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service.
  • Requests necessary items for menu preparation and informs the Sous Chef of any anticipated shortages.
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of assigned work areas and equipment.
  • Sets up, maintains, and dismantles the prep station as required.
  • Properly stores and labels leftover products for future use.
  • Provides recommendations for the maintenance and repair of kitchen equipment.
  • Completes closing duties in accordance with the kitchen checklist.
  • Participates in kitchen staff meetings and contributes ideas for operational improvements.
  • Assists with additional tasks as directed by the Sous Chef.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Texas Food Handler Certification is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as walking, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions and work in a hot, humid, and noisy environment.
