Medical Laboratory Specialist with Analytical Expertise

About the Position
A Medical Laboratory Specialist is sought to join MedStar Health's core laboratory team. This critical role involves performing routine and specialized assays, providing technical advice, and analyzing body fluids, cells, and products to identify disorders associated with disease processes.
Key Responsibilities
Evaluating specimen adequacy for test performance, obtaining specimens for quantitative and qualitative analyses, reviewing and verifying test results, and communicating abnormal findings to appropriate personnel are key responsibilities of this position. Additionally, accurate completion of documentation, routine and specialized testing, correlation of laboratory findings with disease stage, and confirmation of abnormal results are essential duties.
Requirements and Qualifications
This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Medical or Clinical Laboratory Science or a closely related field, along with 1-2 years of clinical laboratory training or experience performing high complexity testing. ASCP MLS Certification or an equivalent is also required. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.
Compensation and Benefits
The estimated annual salary for this position is between $34,980 and $62,520, depending on experience. A comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, is also offered. This position has a rotating weekend schedule, working from 11pm to 7:30am, Monday through Friday.
