Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our team as a contract interpreter for a school district in Santa Barbara, CA. As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will work with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, providing them with equal access to education and communication.
Responsibilities:- Interpret American Sign Language (ASL) in a variety of settings, including classrooms, meetings, and one-on-one interactions
- Develop and maintain relationships with students, teachers, and other school staff to ensure effective communication and support
- Collaborate with the school district to develop and implement strategies for supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices and technologies in sign language interpretation
- 1 year of verifiable, professional experience as a Sign Language Interpreter within the last 3 years
- Valid Sign Language Interpreter credential/license or in process in state of practice
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
