We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Dietary Aide to join our team at Alden Des Plaines Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. As a Dietary Aide, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by providing exceptional food service and support.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation and serving of meals, ensuring that all food is palatable and appetizing in appearance.
- Work with the supervisor to implement procedures and recommended changes as required, maintaining a clean and sanitary environment.
- Recommend equipment and supply needs to the supervisor, ensuring that all areas are well-stocked and organized.
- Review menu extensions prior to preparation, ensuring that all dietary needs are met.
- Assist in the arrangement of diet cards, serving meals, and loading trays on carts.
- Deliver food carts to designated areas, removing trays and carts from dining rooms and taking them to the dishwashing area.
- Prepare and deliver snacks as instructed, ensuring that all food is prepared in accordance with standardized recipes and special diet orders.
- Report all accidents/incidents to the supervisor, as well as any hazardous conditions/equipment.
- Assist in maintaining all food and supply storage areas in a clean and orderly manner at all times.
- Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies, and assist in receiving and storing incoming food, supplies, etc.
- High school education or equivalent.
- One (1) year dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or other related medical facility preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
- Ability to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, personnel, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Ability to work harmoniously with other personnel, possessing patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately.
- Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with the resident, personnel, and support agencies.
