Position Overview

The County of Sonoma is actively seeking qualified candidates for the role of Agricultural/Weights & Measures Inspector III. This position is essential in ensuring compliance with agricultural regulations and standards. As an experienced inspector, you will work independently, primarily in the Agriculture Division or the Weights & Measures Division, contributing to the integrity of agricultural practices and market fairness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections of incoming agricultural shipments and monitor pest traps.
  • Oversee the inspection, measurement, and weighing of various equipment.
  • Collaborate with senior staff on enforcement actions and public education initiatives.
  • Prepare detailed reports and penalty letters based on inspection findings.

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
  • Experience in leading or training within the agricultural or weights & measures sectors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with GIS mapping tools.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience operating large vehicles and a mechanical aptitude.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are advantageous but not mandatory.
