Role Responsibilities:

The Emergency Response Specialist is tasked with executing a range of firefighting and emergency medical services. This role demands physical stamina and the ability to perform under pressure during emergency situations. The individual will also be responsible for the operation and basic upkeep of various firefighting apparatus and equipment.

Key Duties Include:

  1. Responding to emergency calls and providing Advanced or Basic Life Support as part of a firefighting team.
  2. Functioning as an EMT or Paramedic, executing medical procedures in accordance with established protocols.
  3. Collaborating with Engineers and Lieutenants to ensure effective operations.
  4. Engaging in firefighting tasks, which include driving fire vehicles, operating pumps, and executing fire suppression techniques.
  5. Participating in training drills and educational sessions related to firefighting and emergency medical response.
  6. Assisting in the inspection of buildings and hydrants as part of fire prevention initiatives.
  7. Maintaining firefighting equipment and facilities, performing minor repairs, and ensuring cleanliness.
  8. Managing communication during emergencies, including operating radios and relaying information.
  9. Conducting salvage operations to minimize damage during fire incidents.
  10. Engaging with the community through station tours and public information sessions.
  11. Assuming the role of Driver Engineer when necessary.
  12. Completing additional tasks as assigned.

Work Environment:

This position requires work in various outdoor settings, often under challenging conditions such as extreme weather, noise, and exposure to hazardous materials. The role demands physical endurance and the ability to perform tasks in demanding environments.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED, State of Florida Firefighter II Certificate, EMT Certification, and valid Driver's License.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Paramedic Certification and advanced life support certifications.

Additional Skills:

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Capability to perform physically demanding tasks while wearing protective gear.
  • Knowledge of fire safety practices and emergency response protocols.

Special Considerations:

This role may require reporting to work during declared emergencies.
