Job Title: Director of Nursing Level 3 Staff Development/Education

With over 110,000 emergency room visits and 500,000 outpatient visits annually, we provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care, including Level I Trauma Center services.

Job Summary:

The Director of Nursing Level 3 Staff Development/Education is responsible for coordinating orientation and ongoing training of staff, evaluating the quality of care rendered in the Department of Nursing, and implementing the Nursing Department philosophy and objectives. This role ensures compliance with established standards of nursing practice as promulgated by regulatory agencies and professional nursing organizations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide oversight on all educational programs for licensed and unlicensed staff.
  • Identify essential competencies for licensed and non-licensed staff within the Department of Nursing and assure appropriate educational opportunities exist to promote the growth and development of the staff.
  • Participate as an active member of the Policy & Procedure Committee.
  • Participate in clinical service committees, interdisciplinary meetings, and task forces.
  • Provide oversight for educational academic affiliations.
  • Support and oversee educational requirements for accredited programs such as Trauma, TJC.
  • Assume leadership role in identifying opportunities for improvement, defining goals, and developing solutions.
  • Serve on committees and attend meetings as required.
  • Facilitate the initiation and adoption of changes in nursing practice and organization.
Requirements:
  • Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State.
  • A Master's Degree in Nursing Administration or an equivalent field, and a minimum of four years of high-level responsible experience in nursing administration, three years of which shall have been in a hospital.
