Early Childhood Educator

The Early Childhood Educator - Infant and Toddler Specialist is responsible for planning and implementing activities for a classroom of up to four (4) infants and toddlers. This role requires coordination with other Early Head Start Teachers assigned to the same classroom, as well as cooperation with parents and volunteers to provide an age-appropriate, individualized learning environment.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provides primary care and supervision for up to 4 infants/toddlers in a classroom of 8 children.
- Implements an age-appropriate daily routine for infants/toddlers.
- Communicates on a regular basis with parents regarding their child's activities during the day.
- Completes written reports on a daily basis, including attendance, developmental observations, etc.
- Assists with regular sanitation of the classroom environment (toys, surfaces, meal items, etc.).
Performance Standards:
The successful candidate will ensure that the education environment is developmentally and linguistically appropriate, recognizing that children have individual rates of development as well as individual interests, temperaments, cultural backgrounds, and learning styles. They will also ensure that the education environment supports the development of all children's social and emotional development, cognitive, language skills, and physical skills.
Requirements:
- Minimum requirements: High School Diploma or GED and an Infant Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential and six months to one-year related experience and/or training;
- Associate of Science (AAS) degree in Early Child Development or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school, and six months to one year related experience and/or training; or
- A baccalaureate or advanced degree in early childhood education;
Salary: Estimated salary range for this position is between $35,000-$50,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. The exact salary will be discussed during the interview process.
