Job Description:

We are seeking a qualified Youth Development Learning Facilitator to join our team. As an essential member of our Head Start/NC PreK program, you will support our teachers in maintaining a quality learning environment that promotes social competence and intellectual growth in young children.

Your key responsibilities will include:

">
  • ">
  • Assisting in daily planning and implementing daily activities and programs for the classroom;">
  • Developing working relationships with parents of the children;">
  • Assisting in record keeping and documentation;">
  • Attending pre-service and in-service training provided for staff;">
  • Assisting teachers in following daily lesson plans;">
  • Assisting teachers in implementing the Head Start goals, objectives, and concepts as set forth in the Head Start Performance Standards;">
  • Assuming leadership of the class in the teacher's absence;">
  • Assisting teachers in assessing children;">
  • Assisting teachers in writing individual records;">
  • Assisting teachers in writing anecdotal records;">
  • Assisting teachers in doing daily health checks;">
  • Accompanying teachers on home visits;">
  • Performing any other duties designated by the teacher;">
  • Assisting in transporting children, either by driving the Head Start bus or serving as a monitor as assigned;">
  • Ensuring that children are accounted for by visually verifying child presence and marking bus roster;">
  • Physically supervising children in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, and on the playground; assisting children in restrooms if needed;">
  • Assisting teachers in computer data entry;">
  • Performing related duties as required or assigned by the Site Manager, Program Manager, or the Director of Children and Family Services;">

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

">
  • ">
  • A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential;">
  • An Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (or equivalent experience);">
  • At least six months to one year of experience in early childhood education;">
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos;">
  • Ability to write simple correspondence;">
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations;">
  • Mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure;">
  • Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions;">
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations;">
  • Pass an annual physical, TB screening, and submit to random drug screenings;">
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of desktop computers, software, printers, copiers, laminators, faxes, phones, washers, dryers, and vacuums;">
  • Hold a valid state-issued driver's license and possess/maintain or obtain/maintain within 90 days of employment a Commercial Driver's License (CDL);">
  • Current certification for CPR and First Aid;">
