Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiologic Technologist PRN to join our team at Inova Health System. As a key member of our imaging department, you will be responsible for providing clinical services according to radiology practice standards and ensuring optimal department functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Services: Demonstrates a thorough understanding of radiologic principles, theory, anatomy, and pathology processes by utilizing the most appropriate techniques and/or positioning for optimal examinations. Adheres to department policies and protocols by ensuring all examinations are optimized for interpretation.
  • Equipment Operation: Confidently operates radiological equipment in all care settings (i.e. fluoroscopy, trauma, Emergency department, and the Operating Room). Demonstrates the effective use of radiation protection procedures with collimation devices and protective shielding.
  • Patient Care: Communicates effectively with patients to obtain clinical history and informed consent from patients' and/or patients' charts to assist physicians in optimizing the performance and interpretation of examinations. Explains procedures to patients/families and answers any questions to ease anxiety and assure patient cooperation.
  • Teaching and Training: Assists in teaching radiography students sound radiography principles.
  • Collaboration with Physicians: Assists physicians in performing a variety of examinations by using standard department protocols, isolation precautions, and/or sterile techniques.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited radiology school or program.
  • American Registered Radiologic Technologists within 12 months of hire.
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist Upon Start Must be licensed as required by the state of employment if employed at an Inova Health System free-standing Imaging Center not affiliated with an Inova hospital.
  • One year of combined classroom and clinical training in radiology. Recent experience in a hospital/healthcare environment as a Radiologic Technologist or student. OR experience is required.
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
