Job Summary

As a Registered Respiratory Therapist at CHRISTUS Health, you will play a critical role in the pulmonary care of adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients in a hospital setting. This position requires minimal supervision and involves performing patient assessments, instituting respiratory care plans, and executing various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Meet the expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Participate in emergency response, including Code Blue and White situations.
  • Manage airways, including nasotracheal and endotracheal suctioning, and deliver aerosolized drugs.
  • Operate ventilators, perform oral hygiene, and place and maintain airway retaining devices.
  • Manage airway support devices, including BiPAP and CPAP devices, and deliver oxygen therapy.
  • Analyze chest films, collect and analyze blood gases, and perform EKG analysis.
  • Accurately document patient information and maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in CAP and JC surveys and may serve as Shift Leader or Team Leader.
  • Perform advanced practice skills, including therapeutic gas management, pulmonary function testing, and bronchoscopy assistance.
Requirements
  • RT or RCP License in the state of employment.
  • BLS certification.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • 1-3 years of experience in respiratory therapy preferred.
