As an estimating intern, you will play a crucial role in developing accurate and competitive estimates that not only secure projects but also ensure profitability. You will work closely with our preconstruction team to foster professional relationships with clients and subcontractors, analyzing project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand project scope.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand project scope and requirements.
  • Utilize bid solicitation software to ensure comprehensive subcontractor bid coverage and effective communication with clients and subcontractors.
  • Attend estimate kickoff meetings and support the preconstruction and project management teams in developing accurate estimates.
  • Perform accurate quantity takeoffs of available design documents and gather information from databases, contractors, and suppliers to inform estimates.
  • Review and finalize estimate unit cost pricing to reflect current market conditions and project-specific factors.
  • Prepare estimate worksheets and compile comprehensive estimates for review with the preconstruction team.
  • Correspond professionally with architects and engineers to ensure clear understanding of project scope during estimate preparation.
  • Assist with estimate closeout tasks and maintain awareness of new industry practices and their potential applications.
