Job Summary

The Archaeological Specialist will support a variety of archaeology projects within the Pacific and/or Northwest Region. This role will involve conducting cultural resources inventory, documenting archaeological sites, and evaluating resources for National Register of Historic Places eligibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Class III cultural resources inventory and document archaeological sites and IOs/IFs
  • Evaluate resources for NRHP-eligibility and conduct cultural desktop reviews and pre-field literature reviews
  • Perform background and archival research, and deliverables coordination and reviews
  • Submit deliverables to agencies and write monitoring and DPR 523 forms with minimal errors
  • Follow instruction and make adjustments when provided feedback
  • Describe and differentiate geological and cultural strata in order to identify archaeological deposits
  • Differentiate faunal and human bones, and collect GPS data
  • Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright's and Eocene Environmental Group's culture of safety and employee ownership
  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings
Requirements
  • Has completed coursework leading to a degree in archaeology, anthropology, or related field
  • Must be Oregon Qualified Archaeologist
  • Ability to be listed on agency permits as Field Technician/Monitor/Lead/Specialist
  • Proficient in prehistoric and/or historic archaeology in the designated region
  • Proficient in documenting archaeological sites and IOs/IFs in the designated region
  • Survey an average of 30 acres/5 miles per day and carry personal health and safety equipment
  • Work in moderate weather conditions and perform work duties independently and efficiently
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors
Preferred Experience
  • Proficiency in using tablets to document cultural resources
  • Proficiency with sub-meter GPS receiver
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123 applications
  • Previous NHPA, NEPA, FERC, and/or other cultural or environmental trainings
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Authored a master's degree thesis
