Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

Constructive Partnerships Unlimited (CP Unlimited) is a comprehensive multi-service organization providing services and programs to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout the NYC metropolitan area.

We are seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team of professionals to work in our Bronx Article 16 Clinic and Bronx Community Living Service Program.

Job Summary:

The COTA is responsible for implementing prescribed occupational therapy treatment programs that have been selected and delegated by the supervising Occupational Therapist.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational therapy and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Reviews medical records, verifies MD's orders and occupational therapist's assessment prior to implementing OT treatment.
  • Communicates with supervisor regarding persons receiving services in the areas of cognitive/perceptual skills, sensor-motor, musculoskeletal status, CNS status, the use of assistive technology and adaptive equipment needs.
  • Confers with physician and other health care practitioners to obtain additional information on persons receiving services.
  • Writes specific, objective, and measurable documentation, which is outcome-oriented and details the persons receiving service's needs, potential to benefit from treatment, and progress achieved to date.
  • Provides training to persons receiving services, families, and/or direct care staff in specific supportive programs.
  • Participates and attends care plan/team meetings as needed for persons receiving OT services.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy assistant school; New York State license.
  • Knowledge in the use of adaptive equipment, therapeutic activities.
  • Must have good written-verbal communication skills and proficient with Microsoft Word.
