Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Dock Supervisor to join our team at Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a shift or section in a service center, ensuring the department/shift and service center standards for safety, quality, efficiency, cost, service, and delivery are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and Evaluate Safety: Conduct daily safety inspections to ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and OSHA regulations.
  • Manage Dock Operations: Supervise dock employees, assign tasks, and ensure proper utilization of equipment and resources.
  • Coordinate Logistics: Manage all dock work schedules, time off requests, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Improve Operations: Analyze and suggest improvements to operations, provide feedback to employees, and handle disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure 100% of trailers are loaded correctly, inspect trailers for cleanliness, and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Operate Technology Systems: Utilize AS400, Microsoft Office, DYMS, and BLU systems to monitor freight movement and communicate with associates, customers, and team members.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Degree or equivalent, some college preferred.
  • Experience: 2 years working operations experience, preferably in the transportation industry, with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Skills: Working knowledge of AS400, Microsoft Office, DYMS, and BLU systems, knowledge of general DOT regulations, and good verbal and written communication skills.
