DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital is currently in search of a full-time Certified Veterinary Technician to become a vital member of our Surgery Team.


As a Surgical Technician, your primary responsibilities will include the coordination, management, and organization of surgical preparations, as well as assisting surgeons throughout various surgical procedures and in post-operative care, ensuring adherence to the surgeon's directives.

Your daily tasks will involve setting up specialized surgical instruments for operations, placing catheters, and inducing and maintaining anesthesia for surgeries across multiple departments. You will also monitor patient recovery and carry out treatments for day cases, along with other miscellaneous technician responsibilities. This role necessitates a strong foundation of technical skills.

A profound love for and respect towards all animals is essential, as well as an understanding of the human-animal bond.

Compensation:
Hourly wage ranges from $28 to $36, based on education, experience, and certifications. Additional compensation is available for Veterinary Technician Specialists (VTS), along with overnight and weekend differential pay for applicable shifts.

Work Schedule: Surgical Technicians operate on a 5/2 rotating schedule with 10-hour shifts, including rotating weekends. This structure allows for a consistent schedule, making personal planning straightforward, and provides 5 consecutive days off every other week.

Current Shift Availability: Day shift from 9 AM to 7 PM.

Candidate Profile:

  • The capability to manage stressful situations in a fast-paced setting with compassion, efficiency, and adaptability.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in critical care or emergency small animal care is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in anesthesia and analgesia is preferred.
  • Current certification as a Veterinary Technician in the state of Oregon OR a Licensed Veterinary Technician OR a Registered Veterinary Technician from another state with the ability to transfer licensure to Oregon.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Any suitable combination of experience or education may be considered as a substitute for the above qualifications.
