Job Overview

Are you ready to leverage your expertise in procurement and inventory management with a dynamic local transportation firm? IOC Company is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Purchasing/Inventory Coordinator.

The Purchasing/Inventory Coordinator will oversee and replenish an inventory of essential components for our trucking operations. This role involves recognizing commonly used parts and ensuring sufficient stock levels. You will be responsible for ordering and monitoring parts requested by the maintenance team. Furthermore, you will collaborate with operations to establish optimal practices for preventative maintenance schedules, ensuring all equipment functions at peak performance. There may be opportunities to assist the Maintenance Supervisor in overseeing the maintenance department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify frequently utilized parts, manage orders, track shipments, and maintain stock levels.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping of inventory levels.
  • Oversee and sustain the Preventive Maintenance Program and its schedules.
  • Support the supervision of the maintenance department.
  • Assist in planning and executing maintenance projects.
  • Keep the Maintenance Manager updated on project statuses and ongoing maintenance tasks.
  • Facilitate effective communication with department mechanics.
  • Assist in ensuring accurate usage of material and labor charge codes, along with timekeeping requirements.
  • Document hours worked, tasks performed, materials utilized, and inventory replenishment accurately.
  • Perform duties in varying environmental conditions, including extreme weather.
  • Utilize independent judgment to identify and resolve potential issues.
  • Proactively report any unsafe conditions, hazards, or code violations to management.
  • Learn and effectively use computer-based systems for tracking labor, materials, and maintenance.
  • Evaluate job hazards and communicate safety information to staff through various channels, including safety meetings.
  • Track the status of ordered parts and communicate with vendors as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in parts inventory management.
  • Ability to identify and order parts from suppliers.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to established processes.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to learn and effectively utilize inventory and maintenance tracking software.
  • Physical capability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including heavy lifting and outdoor work.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License issued in the United States.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in parts inventory and procurement.
  • Familiarity with mechanical maintenance systems and practices.
  • Knowledge of cycle counts and inventory control theories.
  • Experience in trucking operations.

EDUCATION:

Associates Degree (Preferred but not Required)
