The Accounting Manager will be pivotal in overseeing the daily operations of financial management by coordinating various tasks related to maintaining the general ledger and financial systems, cash flow, expenditures, assets, and liabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Improvement: Develop and implement controls and enhancements to ensure efficiency. Supervise all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory standards.
- Record Keeping: Maintain precise records by documenting transactions from all funding sources and managing operating and capital expenditures in accordance with GAAP.
- Accounts Payable Management: Oversee the accounts payable process, including invoice review and coding, ensuring timely vendor payments, and resolving vendor disputes as necessary.
- Monthly Close Process: Manage the end-to-end monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and preparation of detailed monthly financial reports.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecast revisions, providing detailed variance analysis against actual expenses.
- Audit Coordination: Facilitate the annual audit process by liaising with external auditors and preparing necessary documentation.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all financial regulations, including timely tax return filings and preparation of required tax schedules.
- Grant Oversight: Monitor and track grant expenditures, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and preparing financial reports for grantors.
- Additional Duties: Undertake other projects and tasks as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Strong foundation in accounting principles with a solid understanding of GAAP.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficient in time management and multitasking to meet critical deadlines.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to achieve both individual and team objectives.
- Proactive and self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership over assigned responsibilities.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
- Experience with QuickBooks accounting software is preferred.
- Commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of overall experience.
- 2-3 years of experience in non-profit accounting.
This position is remote.
