GENERAL OVERVIEW
The Building Maintenance and Repair Specialist IV is responsible for executing advanced maintenance and construction tasks. This role encompasses the repair, renovation, restoration, and modification of facilities, requiring proficiency in various trades. Responsibilities include the installation and repair of room finishes, structural components, utility systems, and equipment, ensuring all work meets high standards of quality and safety.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance tasks to uphold and repair buildings and stationary equipment, including plumbing, masonry, carpentry, and electrical work.
- Order and manage materials and equipment necessary for maintenance and construction initiatives.
- Assist in relocating furniture and equipment as needed.
- Install and maintain extensive sprinkler systems to ensure safety compliance.
- Interpret and analyze blueprints and technical drawings to guide project execution and material procurement.
- Conduct inspections of existing structures to identify maintenance needs and report findings to management.
- Lead teams in executing multi-employee projects, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to timelines.
- Document work completed, including time spent and materials used, to maintain accurate records.
- Be available for emergency maintenance tasks outside of regular working hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Fabricate specialized items as required for various projects.
- Act as a liaison between contractors and project managers to facilitate smooth operations.
- Perform minor repairs on equipment and machinery as necessary.
- Handle outdoor maintenance tasks, including the application of pesticides under supervision.
- Travel to various facilities as required to complete assigned tasks.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: A minimum of two years in building trades, with demonstrated skills in at least one area such as carpentry, plumbing, or painting.
Licensure: A valid driver’s license is required, and a pesticide applicator license may be necessary.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- In-depth understanding of building maintenance and construction practices.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and building codes.
- Proficient in using hand and power tools for maintenance tasks.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for clear reporting and collaboration.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The role requires the ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy objects, working at heights, and navigating various environmental conditions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work will be conducted in both office and outdoor settings, with exposure to varying temperatures and conditions.
