As a vital member of our Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) team in Linthicum, MD, you will be involved in the testing and validation of RF, EO/IR, EW, SIGINT, or SATCOM systems.

This position requires on-site presence in Linthicum, MD. It may be filled as either a Lead Systems Engineer or a Senior Lead Systems Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in hands-on integration and evaluation of advanced RF sensor systems, encompassing both hardware and software elements in both development and production settings.
  • Integrate internal and external customer requirements into system tests that consider technical and scheduling limitations.
  • Contribute to the formulation and implementation of detailed test plans, procedures, and timelines for validating system specifications.
  • Participate in readiness assessments, design evaluations, and conduct audits of integration and testing facilities.
  • Coordinate comprehensive testing efforts that may involve environmental, reliability, and occasional flight assessments.
  • Review and analyze test specifications to ensure the thoroughness of the testing program.
  • Conduct analysis of test outcomes and compile detailed reports.
  • Utilize modeling and simulation tools to streamline testing of individual components prior to the availability of all system elements and for diagnosing and repairing malfunctioning units.

Basic Qualifications for a Lead Systems Engineer:

  • A Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree with 3 years of experience, or a Ph.D. with no experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical disciplines; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain an Active DoD secret clearance and Special Program Access (SAP) prior to commencement is mandatory.
  • Proficiency with laboratory testing equipment, such as function generators, oscilloscopes, multimeters, network analyzers, etc.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving intricate hardware/software integration challenges.
  • Familiarity with RF, Radar Systems, EW, EOIR technologies.
  • Experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Understanding of embedded systems design and implementation.

  • A Bachelor's degree with 9 years of relevant experience, a Master's degree with 7 years of experience, or a Ph.D. with 4 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields; an additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain an Active DoD secret clearance and Special Program Access (SAP) prior to commencement is mandatory.
  • Proficiency with laboratory testing equipment, such as function generators, oscilloscopes, multimeters, network analyzers, etc.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving intricate hardware/software integration challenges.
  • Familiarity with RF, Radar Systems, EW, EOIR technologies.
  • Experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Understanding of embedded systems design and implementation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical fields.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher.
  • Previous experience with Special Access Programs.
  • Experience with Control Account Manager (CAM)/ Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
  • Experience with proposal development and basis of estimate creation.
  • Experience testing software developed in C, C++.
  • Experience scripting in Python to automate manual tasks.
  • Experience coding in MATLAB for capability characterization support.
  • Knowledge and experience with Agile methodologies, tools, and implementation.

This position is contingent upon contract award and the ability to obtain or maintain an active DoD Secret clearance with Special Program Access (SAP) prior to commencement.

Salary Range: $102,400 - $153,600
Salary Range 2: $127,000 - $190,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
