Job Summary:

The Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team in the Behavioral Health and Senior Care department. As a Senior Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing professional nursing care and related assistance to patients of any age group admitted to the area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized, goal-directed nursing care by performing comprehensive nursing assessments, making nursing diagnoses, and developing a plan of care based on the assessment and nursing diagnosis.
  • Delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel that take into consideration patient safety, staff safety, and experience and knowledge of staff.
  • Know the rationale for and the effects of medications, including psychoactive medications, and shall correctly administer said medications.
  • Maintain required documentation of patient care and unit activities in accordance with standards.
  • Clarify any order or treatment regimen that the nurse has reason to believe is inaccurate, non-efficacious or contraindicated by consulting with the appropriate licensed practitioner and notifying the ordering practitioner when the nurse makes the decision not to administer the medication or treatment.
  • Perform daily nursing groups as directed by the treatment team.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Current RN license in the State of Texas
  • BLS certification
  • Unit specific competencies obtained within six months of hire
