Role Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Automotive Product Innovation Engineer to join our Motion Technologies division. This position is crucial for driving the development and validation of friction materials utilized in the automotive sector.

As a key player in our team, you will benefit from the comprehensive support of a global, multifunctional team to fulfill the following responsibilities:


Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead product development initiatives in a structured and timely manner, collaborating closely with the global research team and reporting to the Product Development Manager.
  • Design experiments, prepare and execute tests, manage schedules, analyze data, and report findings effectively.
  • Engage with customers to identify their technical challenges and ensure that product characteristics align with their requirements.
  • Develop innovative laboratory, dynamometer, and vehicle testing methodologies that correlate with specific braking characteristics and identify potential failure modes.
  • Utilize customer-specific testing methods to effectively demonstrate new product developments prior to project selection.
  • Provide day-to-day support in key aspects of laboratory and prototype finishing facility operations, including process management, scheduling, and deliverables.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to support ongoing projects or resolve issues.
  • Offer technical assistance to the vehicle testing department regarding critical evaluations of product characteristics.
  • Travel domestically and internationally to support customer visits, projects, and testing activities.

Qualifications:
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • A proactive individual who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and lead multifunctional teams when necessary.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly advanced skills in Excel and Visual Basic, with experience in experimental design.
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Practical experience with general laboratory testing equipment and analytical tools.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in product development, composite design, or manufacturing.
  • Hands-on experience with automotive systems.
  • Six Sigma Green Certification.
  • Familiarity with problem-solving techniques such as Shainin, 8D, Ishikawa, 5 Why, and Pareto analysis.
