Pediatric Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Nurse Specialist to join our team at Medical Health Associates of Western New York. As a Pediatric Nurse Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients in an office setting.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide direct patient care, including exam/procedure prep, screenings, initial assessments, patient exams, and clinical procedures.
- Efficiently administer and document medications, immunizations, and obtain specimens as ordered by providers.
- Assist providers with clinical procedures, such as suturing and obtaining specimens for culture.
- Administer nebulizer treatment, obtain respiratory rate, pulse ox, pulmonary functions, and peak flow meter when applicable.
- Respond promptly and professionally to emergency situations.
- Assist with stocking supplies, cleaning, and preparing rooms and equipment.
- Schedule visits that are timely, appropriate, and sensitive to patient needs.
- Gather patient information by telephone, provide recommendations, and prepare and review patient records.
- Communicate with parents/patients regarding questions arising from visits, follow-up instructions, or scheduling of additional testing.
- Provide health education information and health teaching to parents/patients as directed by providers.
- Accurately communicate with pharmacies regarding prescription requests or prior authorizations.
- Participate in quality assurance/quality improvement programs and activities within the practice setting.
- Attend and participate in required in-service and mandatory meetings for continuous quality improvements.
- Support change and new programs to improve patient care and staff morale.
- Coordinate care with disease management as directed by providers.
- Follow policy/procedure to perform, record, and report laboratory tests while maintaining universal precautions and infection control precautions.
- Protect the privacy and security of confidential and sensitive patient information.
- Assist with training and serve as a resource for other staff.
- Graduate of an approved program for Registered Professional Nurse.
- Current NYS Licensure and registration required.
- Current CPR Certification.
- One year experience preferred in pediatric, clinical, or office nursing.
- Triage experience preferred.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Proficiency with medical record technology.
- MEDENT experience/knowledge preferred.
Compensation: The range of pay for this position is $26.00 - $31.00 per hour. Starting pay will vary based upon education and experience.
