Transformative Surface Engineering Role

Divergent is a pioneering technology company that has revolutionized the manufacturing industry with its cutting-edge Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS). As a Senior Materials and Process Engineer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of surface engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Optimize current finishing methods to enhance the external and internal surfaces of additively manufactured parts
  • Evaluate and implement new finishing methods to improve surface quality and performance
  • Develop and own surface engineering processes, including coatings, surface treatments, and finishing methods
  • Collaborate with the automation, manufacturing, and quality teams to implement new or improved surface engineering processes into production
  • Engage with customers to understand their surface engineering requirements and develop tailored solutions
  • Author and own all surface engineering specifications
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in materials science, materials engineering, chemical engineering, or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of related professional experience
  • 3+ years of professional experience with anodization
  • Able to carry up to 25 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or Ph.D in materials science or chemical engineering
  • Proven experience in authoring and revising materials and process specifications
  • Experience with metallic surface engineering in an aerospace environment
  • Experience with metal additive manufacturing
  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of aerospace metals including nickel-based alloys, aluminum alloys, and ferrous alloys
