Position Overview:

Compensation: The daily wage for this role is set at $24.00.

Job Responsibilities:

This position is classified as safety-sensitive under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act. Employees in this role may face disciplinary actions, including termination, if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, regardless of possessing a medical marijuana license.

The individual will be employed through the Police Department, specifically within the Uniform Support Division, and will independently carry out the essential duties of the position. Responsibilities include:

  1. Halting traffic at designated crossings using a stop sign to ensure safe passage for students.
  2. Guiding children at street crossings until it is deemed safe to proceed.
  3. Escorting students across streets during school hours.
  4. Documenting and reporting vehicle license numbers of drivers who violate crossing guard instructions or disregard safety regulations.

Work Locations:

The following educational institutions require Crossing Guards:

Applicants must specify their preferred locations from the list of schools provided in response to the supplemental question regarding interest in working as a School Crossing Guard.

Additional Information:

Note: Civilian employees of the Oklahoma City Police Department must successfully complete a thorough background check and polygraph examination prior to employment.

Age Requirement: Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of application.

Work Hours: This position is limited to a maximum of 29 hours per week.

Payment Method: City employees are required to receive compensation electronically, either through direct deposit or pay card.

Background Checks and Testing: Upon receiving a conditional offer of employment, the City of Oklahoma City will conduct a criminal history background check for external applicants. Candidates will be provided with contact details for any third-party agencies involved in collecting background information related to conditional offers of employment.

If the position involves a driver’s license requirement, the City will obtain a Motor Vehicle Report for both internal and external applicants. For safety-sensitive positions, applicants will receive a copy of the City’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy prior to being directed for drug testing.

In the case of cyber security-sensitive roles, applicants will undergo a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Interstate Identification Index (III) Fingerprint Background check and must complete Level 4 Security Awareness Training, passing an online certification test.
