Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Land Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating with field crews to conduct boundary, topographic, and as-built surveys. Key responsibilities include preparing legal descriptions, assisting with zoning and permitting applications, and training assistants in survey techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain accurate sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys.
  • Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
  • Coordinate findings with engineering and architectural personnel, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Train and direct assistants in survey activities, including performing surveys and drafting maps.
  • Search legal records, survey records, and land titles to obtain information about property boundaries.
  • Analyze survey objectives and specifications to prepare survey proposals or direct others in proposal preparation.
  • Develop criteria for survey methods and procedures.
  • Conduct research in surveying and mapping methods, utilizing knowledge of photogrammetric map compilation and electronic data processing.
  • Define scopes and propose new work.
  • Participate in proposal meetings with customers and owners to review scope of work, discuss cost reduction, and provide value engineering ideas.
  • Assist with project scheduling and budgeting.
  • Remain cost-conscious and aware of project details at all times.
  • Assist with weekly safety meetings and progress meetings with customers and owners.
Requirements
  • Travel across rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces.
  • Move objects weighing 20-50 pounds over long distances.
  • Use a 16-pound sledgehammer.
  • Traverse distances up to 1/2 mile at a time, up to five miles per day.
  • Bend or stoop repeatedly.
  • Remain in a standing position for extended periods.
  • Make continuous or repetitive arm-hand movements.
  • Work outside in all seasons and weather conditions.
  • Work inside on hard surfaces.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of four to seven years of survey or related experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction, boundary, and topographic surveys.
  • Thorough knowledge of survey equipment and data collection.
  • Ability to adapt to new equipment and technologies.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in mathematics or surveying a plus.
  • NSPS/ACSM Certified Survey Technician - at least Level 3.
  • Read and understand plans, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or Carlson.
  • Prior Party Chief experience required.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
  • Registered Land Surveyor license required.
