Job Summary

The position of Mechanic at Garlock Equipment is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of our roofing and pavement patching equipment. This role requires a skilled individual who can repair and maintain equipment, as well as provide exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Assemble new products that arrive unassembled
  • Maintain a clean and organized showroom and mechanics bay
  • Assist customers with loading and unloading equipment
  • Support picking, shipping, and receiving duties
  • Perform janitorial duties as needed
  • Notify Branch Lead of product shortages and overstocks
  • Perform service calls at customer job sites as required
  • Operate a forklift
  • Drive company trucks to make deliveries or pickup orders as needed

Requirements

Education and Experience

A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three years of related experience and/or training are required. Experience should include small engine repair, pneumatics, power tool repair, and a basic understanding of electrical, heat generating, and electronic equipment. Welding experience is also required.

Language Skills

The ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos is essential. The ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and/or other employees of the organization is also required. Spanish speaking is not required but is a plus.

Mathematical Skills

The ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's is required. The ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance is also required.

Additional Requirements

A valid driver's license and good driving record are required. The ability to operate a forklift and have own tools to use at work is also required.
