Section Chief of Heart Failure

The Section Chief of Heart Failure will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Heart Failure Section within the Division of Cardiovascular Disease and Hypertension. This role will be responsible for supervising and leading assigned faculty, developing and managing the section's operational and programmatic aspects, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and manage the section's yearly budget in consultation with financial administrators and the health systems service line.
- Serve as a liaison between the academic cardiology division and the hospital/health systems cardiovascular service line to establish and disseminate information and policies.
- Promote interdisciplinary care, including collaboration with nurses, PAs, surgical and medical specialties, and other healthcare team members.
- Review and approve faculty requests for leave and schedule alterations to ensure adequate clinic/hospital and administrative coverage for the heart failure service.
- Monitor performance standards and metrics of divisional faculty to ensure they meet personal targets for clinical performance and RVU benchmarks for the specialty.
- Coordinate and execute the faculty performance evaluation process for faculty within the section, recommending promotions and disciplinary actions as necessary.
- Develop uniform teaching standards for the divisional fellowship program at RWJUH and affiliate hospitals.
- Oversight of and participation in the Division's educational mission of teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Develop CME programs and participate in the educational, patient care, research, and other activities of the Department.
- Work with the philanthropy officer to facilitate Department fundraising efforts.
