Role Summary:

Under the guidance of the Security Director or designated supervisor, the Security Specialist is responsible for upholding the safety and security standards of the healthcare facility. This role involves monitoring premises, ensuring compliance with security protocols, and providing a secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The position requires vigilant observation for potential safety risks and the prompt reporting of any unusual activities through regular patrols of designated areas. The specialist will also address complaints and assist in managing patient behavior when necessary, all while delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

1. **Facility Security Maintenance**:
• Conduct regular patrols of both interior and exterior areas.
• Focus on locations with a history of security issues.
• Respond to security alarms and emergency situations, adhering to established emergency protocols.
• Identify and rectify unsafe conditions to mitigate risks to property and individuals.
• Assist in managing and restraining patients when required.
• Provide support during incidents of workplace violence and medical emergencies.
• Quickly respond to urgent requests across the facility.

2. **Documentation and Reporting**:
• Maintain accurate security logs and incident reports.
• Complete necessary forms related to security incidents and patient interactions.
• Prepare identification requests and other relevant documentation.

3. **24-Hour Coverage Support**:
• Provide patient transport and assistance as needed.
• Operate integrated security systems and dispatch personnel to respond to incidents.

4. **Data Management**:
• Input and manage data related to security incidents and personnel.
• Utilize access control systems and maintain communication records.

5. **Investigative Duties**:
• Conduct inquiries into thefts and other security-related complaints.
• Collaborate with law enforcement when necessary and document all findings.
• Prepare detailed reports on incidents and maintain communication with supervisors.

6. **Additional Responsibilities**:
• Engage in cross-training for various roles within the security department.
• Ensure compliance with training requirements and maintain equipment.
• Safeguard valuables and maintain proper documentation.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required; further education in criminal justice or related fields preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in security, law enforcement, or customer service roles is advantageous.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean record.
  • Certification in IAHSS and MOAB training required within specified timeframes post-hire.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with diverse populations.
  • Ability to manage stressful situations and de-escalate conflicts.
  • Proficient in written communication for documentation purposes.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and sound judgment.
