As a Patient Access Representative, you will play a vital role in ensuring that patients receive the care they need in a timely and efficient manner. Your primary responsibilities will include performing insurance verification duties, verifying healthcare coverage and benefits, and ensuring excellent customer service when assisting patients, providers, and other departments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits to ensure accurate information and needs are met in advance of service
  • Collect and update patient demographic and insurance information, making changes as necessary to ensure accuracy with insurance benefits, referrals, and authorizations
  • Verify precertification / authorizations for scheduled services utilizing internet sites, payer contacts, and software as appropriate
  • Assess coverage and benefits, and accurately determine patient responsibility as applicable
  • Identify self-pay patients and share information with financial counseling for assistance with patient financial obligation and options

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
  • 6+ months of experience in an office setting, customer service setting (over the phone OR face to face), phone support role, or call center environment
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to work 20 hours per week, within the following hours
    • Monday - Friday from 2:00pm - 10:30pm
    • Saturday & Sunday shifts ranging between 5:30am - 10:30pm

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience working an overnight schedule
  • 1+ years of Patient Access experience in a hospital OR medical setting
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Working knowledge of insurance policies, procedures, and patient care settings
