Position Overview:

The Facility Maintenance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the Philadelphia Temple Corps Community Center. This role involves managing cleaning operations, equipment maintenance, and vendor relationships to create a safe and welcoming environment for all program participants and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise all janitorial tasks for both the interior and exterior of the facility, including snow removal during winter months.
  • Ensure all maintenance equipment is in optimal working condition.
  • Communicate any property or vehicle issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Conduct minor repairs and coordinate with external vendors when necessary.
  • Maintain a reliable list of service vendors and manage their activities on-site.
  • Keep track of all required inspections, ensuring they are completed on schedule and records are well-organized.
  • Oversee community service volunteers, tracking their hours and contributions.
  • Manage deliveries and assist with the distribution of donated items.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify management when orders are needed.
  • Organize the janitorial workspace efficiently.
  • Assist with special events and projects as required.
  • Ensure the upkeep of vehicles used for organizational purposes.
  • Be available for on-call situations related to facility maintenance and safety.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Cleaning Duties:

The Facility Maintenance Specialist will perform a variety of cleaning tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Sweeping, mopping, dusting, and maintaining all floor surfaces.
  • Emptying trash bins daily and replacing liners.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, replenishing supplies as needed.
  • Maintaining cleanliness in all offices and communal areas.
  • Washing walls and surfaces to ensure a hygienic environment.
  • Preparing the chapel for services, including cleaning and arranging seating.
  • Removing snow and ice from walkways and ensuring safe access to the building.
  • Addressing any graffiti or cleanliness issues promptly.
  • Assisting service personnel and ensuring they have access to necessary areas.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; prior experience in maintenance or janitorial roles is preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow safety instructions for cleaning chemicals.
  • Capable of working independently and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Must complete child protection training and background checks as mandated.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army.
