We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Educator to join our team at Northcoast Children's Services. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children to grow and develop.
Key Responsibilities- Classroom Management: Develop and implement daily curriculum in accordance with program guidelines, ensuring a warm and accepting environment that encourages independence and self-esteem for each child.
- Curriculum Planning: Plan and implement weekly lesson plans, incorporating activities that promote child growth and development.
- Child Support: Assist children in self-help skills and daily routines, including toileting, dressing, eating, and napping.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and community members, upholding confidentiality of child and family information.
- Health and Safety: Screen children daily for health problems, administer first aid when needed, and maintain a safe and stimulating learning environment.
- Education: Possess an Associate Teacher Permit on the Child Development Matrix or be eligible to apply.
- Experience: One year of teaching experience in an Early Childhood Education setting.
- Skills: Working knowledge of child care programs, child growth and development, and curriculum planning.
- Personal Qualities: Sensitive to the needs and characteristics of young children, able to relate well to staff, parents, and community members, and possess self-direction and initiative.
- Health Screening: Successfully complete a health screening and provide proof of the absence of TB no later than 7 days following the date of hire.
- Physical Ability: Able to lift and carry children up to 40 pounds for safety reasons and possess physical agility to bend, stoop, walk, reach over head, push/pull, squat, twist, and turn.
- First Aid and CPR: Possess a current pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR certificate (EMSA approved training).
- Criminal Record Clearance: Have a current Criminal Record Clearance with a current Child Abuse Index Check on file with Community Care Licensing.
