At AML, we are dedicated to developing state-of-the-art machine learning solutions that empower current and future enterprise products and services.
Responsibilities
As an Applied Scientist specializing in ML, your duties will include:
- Engagement with Business Units: Collaborate with business units to pinpoint opportunities, thoroughly understand their needs, and effectively translate these needs into innovative technical solutions.
- Designing Generative AI Applications: Spearhead the design and implementation of generative AI applications. Employ established methodologies and, when necessary, develop custom algorithms to address complex challenges efficiently.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Partner closely with engineers and platform architects to ensure the seamless integration and deployment of robust, enterprise-level ML applications and systems that align with our business goals.
- Ongoing Research and Development: Remain at the forefront of advancements in data science and machine learning. Continuously investigate and assess new technologies and methodologies to elevate our team's technical capabilities, ensuring we stay ahead in ML innovation.
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience with a solid foundation in ML and generative AI principles.
- Hands-on experience in developing Deep Learning applications.
- Proficient in utilizing ML frameworks, such as PyTorch.
- Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.
- Expertise in generative AI, computer vision, and/or multimodal systems is advantageous.
- Robust software engineering skills in Python for constructing scalable and resilient infrastructure for deep learning data, modeling, and evaluation systems.
- Demonstrated ability to train and troubleshoot deep learning systems, including defining metrics and datasets, conducting error analysis, and training models within a modern ML framework.
- Familiarity with current ML literature and mathematical concepts, including optimization techniques and modeling strategies.
- Significant experience in transitioning prototypes into final products.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present research findings to large audiences and collaborate effectively in multi-functional teams.
Educational Background
A Master’s or PhD in AI/ML, EECS, or a related discipline (such as mathematics, physics, statistics, or computer engineering) is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in applied ML and/or product development. A PhD is strongly preferred.

Compensation & Benefits
- At Apple, base salary is just one component of our comprehensive compensation package, which is determined within a specified range. This structure allows for growth as you develop within your role. The base salary range for this position is between $143,100 and $264,200, with actual salary depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the chance to become shareholders through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
