Position OverviewAs a Senior Test Equipment Engineering Lead, you will play a pivotal role in our Testing Team, overseeing the design and development of hardware essential for validating and verifying flight-critical components and systems for our vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) electric aircraft.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and mentoring a talented team in the creation of hardware for assembly, installation, and rigorous testing of critical flight systems.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather test requirements and define design specifications for various testing projects.
- Enhancing our testing capabilities by aligning with aircraft certification standards while addressing developmental testing needs.
- Supervising the formal release of design documentation, including drawings, bills of materials, and assembly instructions.
- Coordinating with suppliers for hardware procurement and managing manufacturing requirements.
- Ensuring that all designs meet established specifications and project timelines.
- Implementing tools and processes to optimize team productivity and project management.
- Championing a culture of safety and innovation in our testing environments.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 8 years of experience in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical Engineering.
- Extensive experience in aircraft testing and certification processes.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in managing structured teams, including engineers and technicians.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills.
- Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and engineering documentation.
- Proficiency in mechanical design and fabrication of high-load components and precision systems.
- Experience with industrial electrical components and systems.
Additional qualifications that would be advantageous include:
- Over 10 years of experience in the aerospace industry.
- Familiarity with Dassault Systemes CAD software, MATLAB, and NI LabVIEW.
- Project management experience in aerospace testing programs.
- Knowledge of automated hardware design and industrial electronics.
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing and aircraft certification processes.
