Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled LPN to join our team at Presbyterian Healthcare Services. As an LPN, you will provide direct patient care in the acute care setting of the emergency department or inpatient area, utilizing various nursing skills and established standards of care at the direction of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver direct patient care, including administering treatments as prescribed, assist nurses and physicians with various procedures and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken and patient responses.
  • Administer prescribed medications, including medications given through established parenteral/intravenous infusions as prescribed by physician or standard protocols and document according to policy.
  • Document and report patient condition, care delivery and post procedure follow up. Assess changes in patient s condition and report to nurse and physician as needed.
  • Incorporate nursing activities that create a compassionate, supportive and therapeutic environment for patients and staff with the aim of promoting comfort and healing.
  • Apply Exceptional Patient Experience principles and incorporate into care interactions.
  • Maintain current certifications for appropriate specialty.
  • Keep current with developments in the field through seminars, workshops and publications.
  • Participate in patient and family teaching.
  • Use the Medical Records Computer Systems at the skill levels commensurate with responsibilities.
  • Incorporate PHS mission in care-giving activities.
  • Maintain positive communication and relationships with patients, peers and other healthcare team members.
  • Maintain a punctual and reliable attendance record.
  • Use available resources within system to enhance own continuous learning.
  • Completes mandatory in-services, competencies and licensure requirements on time.
  • Adheres to safety and equipment policies.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality/personal/medical information.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Practical Nursing Formal Education approved by the NM Board of Nursing
  • Licensed Practical Nurse-NM
  • BLS required
  • PDS IV Certification course (within orientation period)
  • Basic Cardiac Arrythmias (BCA) for areas where cardiac telemetry monitoring is used (prior to ACLS)
  • ACLS (within 6 months of being hired) for areas where required
