We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque. As an LPN, you will provide direct patient care in the acute care setting of the emergency department or inpatient area, utilizing various nursing skills and established standards of care at the direction of a registered nurse.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care, including administering treatments as prescribed, assisting nurses and physicians with various procedures, and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken, and patient responses.
- Administer prescribed medications, including medications given through established parenteral/intravenous infusions as prescribed by physician or standard protocols, and document according to policy.
- Document and report patient condition, care delivery, and post-procedure follow-up, assessing changes in patient condition and reporting to nurse and physician as needed.
- Incorporate nursing activities that create a compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff, promoting comfort and healing.
- Apply Exceptional Patient Experience principles and incorporate into care interactions, maintaining efficient patient flow and assisting with treatments and procedures.
- Ensure safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and patient-centered care of patients, providing education for patients, significant others, and family using identified educational materials and resources under the direction of the nurse and medical provider.
- Support process/quality improvement initiatives and incorporation into practice, incorporating all patient safety technology, tools, protocols, communications, and initiatives to optimize a safe patient environment.
- Deploy in the clinical environment processes to enhance care efficiency, cost containment, and follow hospital policies and procedures and standards of care.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Practical Nursing Formal Education approved by the NM Board of Nursing
- Licensed Practical Nurse-NM
- BLS required
- PDS IV Certification course (within orientation period)
- Basic Cardiac Arrhythmias (BCA) for areas where cardiac telemetry monitoring is used (prior to ACLS)
- ACLS (within 6 months of being hired) for areas where required
