Amentum is actively seeking experienced candidates for the role of Senior Mechanical Engineer to contribute to our NAVSEA Contract and be an integral part of the Marine Engineering Group. This group serves as the Navy's technical authority on machinery systems across all surface vessels, aircraft carriers, and submarines. Responsibilities include the development, design, evaluation, and assessment of various marine system technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct design, analysis, evaluation, and process assessments while performing root cause analysis and maintaining specifications and standards.
  • Work on systems including electrical components, motors, controls, energy storage, mechanical and hydraulic systems, power generation, and fluid systems.
  • Execute engineering design evaluations and ensure project completion within budget and time constraints.
  • Review industry policies and procedures to guarantee data accuracy, security, and compliance with regulations.
  • Analyze production, malfunction, and maintenance reports to identify and resolve issues.
  • Provide technical support throughout the engineering process.
  • Collaborate with various engineering departments to align project development efforts.
  • Design and implement operational plans to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Monitor project progress and performance, taking necessary actions to address operational challenges.
  • Prepare engineering designs and detailed work specifications.
  • Develop project schedules, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Select appropriate materials, equipment, project personnel, and external contractors.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4-7 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficient in design, analysis, evaluation, and risk assessment.
  • Expertise in complex technical and business matters.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Must possess an Active SECRET US Government Clearance; US Citizenship is required for clearance eligibility.
