Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Metal Melting Technician is responsible for executing mold burnout processes, managing furnace operations, and pouring metal castings under the guidance of the Melt Supervisor. We are particularly interested in candidates with a background in precision investment castings and/or melting operations within a manufacturing setting. This role will initially involve training on the day shift, transitioning to a swing shift schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

The technician will:

  • Interpret travelers and document melt data accurately.
  • Operate the furnace to melt metal in preparation for casting.
  • Measure and load metal into the furnace.
  • Adjust fuel, air, electricity, and water coolant levels as necessary.
  • Monitor the metal and modify controls to maintain the required temperature.
  • Apply fluxing agents to the metal and remove slag as needed.
  • Extract ceramic molds from the furnace.
  • Occasionally lift weights ranging from 25 to 40 pounds.
  • Document data from each melting process to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Engage in scheduling activities to meet manufacturing demands.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols established by the company, including the proper use of safety equipment and procedures.
  • Follow additional instructions and perform other related tasks as required.

Work Environment:

The Metal Melting Technician operates in an investment casting environment, which may involve exposure to various elements such as noise, dust, fumes, and heat.

Standard safety equipment and training are provided by the company in accordance with legal and industry standards.

  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Experience in manufacturing
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Familiarity with machining
  • Proficiency in forklift operation
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Skillful use of hand tools
  • Experience in fabrication
  • Knowledge of tooling
  • Crane operation experience
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments
