Role Overview:
The Microbiology Technical Coordinator (MT/MLS) is accountable for overseeing all technical functions within the department. This includes:
- Facilitating training and ongoing education
- Conducting competency assessments
- Providing leadership and guidance to laboratory personnel
- Collaborating with clinical staff to resolve issues
This role entails performing microbiology bench tasks alongside essential administrative duties such as:
- Quality control review and maintenance
- Preparing for regulatory compliance inspections
- Participating in inspection teams
- Reviewing policies and participating in relevant hospital committees
- Validating instruments and monitoring proficiency testing.
The position also serves as a remote resource for offsite laboratory systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with MT (ASCP) or MLS (ASCP) or M(ASCP) certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- ASCP specialist certification in Microbiology
- Experience with MALDI implementation and validation
- Previous leadership experience in a laboratory setting
