Job Overview

The Leffell School is a premier K-12 Jewish independent institution catering to around 820 students across two campuses in Westchester County, NY, just 30 minutes from New York City.

The Facility Operations Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of the school’s facilities. This position involves performing essential repairs, cleaning, and general upkeep of the premises. The Technician will also engage in various projects across multiple trades, including plumbing, electrical work, and painting, in alignment with the Operations Department's needs.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate should possess at least two years of experience in facility maintenance or a related field, along with:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the entire facility is maintained in a safe and productive manner to safeguard the health and safety of all staff and students
  • Oversee and evaluate facilities for compliance with regulations
  • Identify and monitor necessary repairs and set criteria for maintenance
  • Plan, develop, and prioritize projects and weekly work schedules
  • Ensure that the Upper School facility adheres to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Stay updated on best practices in facilities management and maintenance
  • Implement all policies and procedures related to facility management
  • Complete daily work orders assigned by the Facilities Maintenance Manager, including repair and maintenance tasks
  • Recommend the acquisition of necessary maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies to enhance efficiency
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Be prepared to substitute as a security guard when required
  • Organize and maintain the maintenance shop area
  • Adhere to all safety practices and policies, ensuring safety for oneself and others
  • Occasionally utilize a company vehicle for supply pickups or deliveries
  • Assist the Athletics Department with maintenance-related tasks
  • Take attendance of students registered for the late bus and ensure their safe boarding
  • Respond to inquiries from parents regarding the late bus
