Job Overview:

The Financial Accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of financial data within designated segments of the general ledger. This position involves comprehensive analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts, as well as the preparation of financial statements for the Regional Health Ministry ("RHM") and the Market Record to Report ("R2R") shared services area.

The ideal candidate will exhibit strong analytical skills pertinent to healthcare financial operations and possess a solid understanding of external regulatory frameworks, payor dynamics, and other factors influencing healthcare finance, including adherence to US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ("GAAP") and various regulatory reporting mandates.

Staying informed about emerging industry trends and standards is essential.


Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance is required.

Consideration will be given to equivalent combinations of education and experience, such as extensive experience in healthcare accounting or relevant certifications from HFMA.

Proficiency in US GAAP and financial analysis, including the ability to research and resolve accounting issues, is necessary.


Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of two (2) years of accounting experience is preferred, particularly within the healthcare sector.
Familiarity with various accounting software systems and proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite are essential.

Working Conditions:
This role may involve limited clinical or patient-facing responsibilities.

Work is primarily conducted indoors in a temperature-controlled environment, with occasional travel required. The position may involve lifting up to 30 pounds unassisted and frequent use of computer systems, along with extended periods of sitting and occasional walking, standing, or bending.

Adaptability to frequent interruptions, shifting priorities, and high-pressure situations is necessary. The ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain focus on complex concepts over extended periods is crucial.

Visual acuity for reading small print and auditory capability for normal conversation are required, along with manual dexterity for various tasks.


Responsibilities:

The Financial Accountant will establish and nurture positive relationships with leaders across the organization, ensuring confidentiality as needed. Responsibilities include responding to information requests and assisting management with internal and external audits, including compliance with federal audit requirements and RHM-specific audit standards.

Timely implementation of audit recommendations related to financial responsibilities is expected. The role also involves assisting with annual tax returns, sales and use tax reporting, and other mandatory reporting as assigned.

Additional duties include preparing monthly accounting entries for the general ledger system, reconciling and adjusting accounts, and ensuring accurate documentation supports workpaper reconciliations.

Participation in the completion of year-end financial reporting packages and preparation of audit work papers is required, along with obtaining necessary supporting documentation for audit schedules.
