UC San Diego is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Parking Representative to join our team. As a Senior Parking Representative, you will be responsible for enforcing University parking regulations and ensuring the security of parking facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Patrol campus parking areas to enforce parking regulations and manage security of parking facilities.
- Check parked vehicles to ensure parking permits are visible and valid, and that vehicles are parked legally.
- Identify parking violations and issue warning notices, citations, or attach vehicle immobilizers as required.
- Provide general information and explain parking regulations to the campus community and visitors.
- Support the University's Motorist Assistance Program by helping with tasks such as charging dead batteries, inflating tires, unlocking cars, and supplying gas.
- Assist with traffic control, give directions, place signs and barricades, and remove traffic hazards.
- Work commencement and other events as necessary.
- Make and keep records of actions taken during shifts, prepare neat and detailed citations and reports, and review and make recommendations on citation adjudication requests.
- Clean and maintain patrol vehicles.
- Experience in parking/security enforcement or other related work with extensive public contact involving customer service and enforcement of established policies.
- Knowledge of parking rules and regulations and ability to enforce policies with professionalism and tact.
- Demonstrated ability to observe and recall details of incidents, prepare clear, concise, and legible documents and reports.
- General computer knowledge and ability to operate hand-held computerized devices, word processing, email, internet, and database programs.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with ability to interact professionally and tactfully with diverse groups of people.
- Ability to be objective, courteous, and respectful in dealings with the campus community and visitors, and not allow personal beliefs, prejudices, or biases to interfere with official acts or duties.
- Ability to operate motor vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions.
- Ability to learn and provide basic vehicle and motorist assistance such as tire inflation, battery jump start, lockout service, and gas transport.
- Ability to give testimony in court regarding citations issued.
- DOJ/FBI background checks and clearances are required prior to hire.
- DMV check and clearance are required prior to hire.
- Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license with a good driving record.
- Must be able to obtain a CPR and First Aid Certificate.
- Must obtain a Post Certification pursuant to 832(a) to make misdemeanor arrests for disabled placard misuse.
- Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of climates.
- Must be able to spend long periods of time patrolling on foot, bicycle, or Segway enforcing university parking.
- May be assigned overtime or alternate work schedules, such as evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- May be assigned to work at Hillcrest Medical Center as needed.
