Job Summary

We're looking for a seasoned Cloud Engineering Manager II to lead our Telemetry team, responsible for providing telemetry tools, data pipelines, and overall experience enabling Box engineers. As a key member of our Cloud Engineering organization, you'll champion the adoption of best-in-class Telemetry tools, provide guidance on metrics and APM tooling, and architect scalable frameworks for efficient Telemetry adoption.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion the adoption of best-in-class Telemetry tools, including Prometheus, Chronosphere, OTEL, and SignalFx.
  • Provide guidance on metrics and APM tooling, monitoring and alerting, and distributed tracing.
  • Architect scalable frameworks for efficient Telemetry adoption and infrastructure handling billions of metrics daily and millions of transactions per minute.
  • Collaborate with product teams to define the Telemetry platform roadmap aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead technical design discussions within and across teams to ensure building the right Telemetry systems.
  • Cultivate a culture of Telemetry excellence and best practices across Box.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience managing and leading telemetry/data engineering teams.
  • Experience growing and managing diverse, talented, global engineering teams.
  • Expertise building strong relationships within and across peer teams that foster deep engagement and delivering key technologies.
  • Passionate about solving hard problems using data-driven solutions.
  • Experience translating business needs into engineering opportunities focused on scale, performance, reliability, efficiency, and product velocity.
