Position SummaryTrout Unlimited's Mid Atlantic Coldwater Habitat Program is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals for seasonal employment opportunities. We are looking for several entry-level Stream Restoration Technicians who will engage in vital conservation efforts aimed at protecting native trout and aquatic ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in watershed survey activities, including stream morphology, habitat assessment, and fish population evaluation.
- Navigate to remote stream locations, often requiring extensive hiking while carrying necessary survey equipment.
- Collect and maintain rigorous data collection protocols and assessment standards.
- Identify and communicate any concerns to the supervisor, coordinating with Forest Service personnel as needed.
- Wade through streams and rivers under various flow conditions and weather scenarios.
- Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and report any needs to the supervisor.
- Participate in camping trips for surveys located far from the main base.
- Uphold a high standard of integrity and professionalism throughout all tasks.
- Engage in additional duties related to watershed programs, such as tree planting, stream restoration, road decommissioning, and water temperature monitoring.
- Experience in physically demanding roles.
- Ability to quickly learn new skills and techniques.
- Willingness to work extended hours in challenging outdoor environments.
- Strong communication abilities.
- Basic understanding of watershed health and functionality.
- A valid driver's license and ability to pass background checks.
- A genuine passion for native fish species and their habitats.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse team.
- Open-mindedness and receptiveness to constructive feedback.
- Resilience in dealing with various outdoor conditions.
- Capability to operate large, off-road vehicles.
- Knowledge of fish habitats and ecosystems.
- Field experience in aquatic surveys.

- Training in First Aid/CPR.
- Experience navigating in remote areas.
