Role Summary:
- As an Electrical Engineer specializing in Energy Storage Solutions, you will be responsible for the integration of battery systems within top-tier products aimed at the Agricultural and Construction sectors.
- Your role will involve collaboration with a team of engineers focusing on the essential aspects of electrical system architecture and the necessary interfaces for comprehensive integration with vehicle systems.
- The ideal candidate will oversee the integration and selection of all electrical components related to energy storage, guiding the process from initial concept through to production launch.
- Responsibilities include developing system specifications, schematics, and component requirements.
- Selection of battery pack and disconnect unit subcomponents based on system-level specifications and performance criteria.
- Define and develop high voltage/low voltage interconnects, control mechanisms, and wiring strategies for battery functionality.
- Create conceptual battery component CAD models during the early phases of product development.
- Collaborate with vehicle teams, suppliers, functional safety experts, software developers, diagnostics, battery management systems, and prototype build teams.
- Support service and troubleshooting efforts for field battery packs using existing schematics and processes.
- Lead and collaborate with suppliers on design strategies and solutions throughout the battery pack development lifecycle.
- Assist in the creation and application of modeling strategies and analytical tools.
- Work closely with the pack design manager and propulsion system team to provide performance insights for trade studies.
- Guide the development of high voltage safety concepts for components and wiring.
- Contribute to the development of electrical system Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) for both internal and supplier designs.
- Engage with purchasing and suppliers during the sourcing and development phases.
- Collaborate closely with lead engineers, cross-functional team members, and engineering service teams (including vehicle, modeling and simulation, software, and functional safety).
- Communicate development progress to leadership, identify project risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
- Prepare for and participate in both formal and informal design and peer review sessions.
- Act as a key member of the Product Development Team (PDT) and interface with teams across various global locations.
- Stay updated on the latest technologies for energy storage requirements, components, and strategies, driving the creation of innovative solutions.
Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in the following areas:
- Development of electrical system architectures for high voltage systems.
- Design and development of various battery pack components, including busbars, fuses, wiring, connectors, contactors, and control modules, encompassing evaluation, selection, connection, routing, and sizing activities.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in creating, maintaining, and interpreting electrical schematics using Siemens Capital software suite or similar tools.
- Proficiency in CAD and PLM software, particularly CREO Parametric and Teamcenter.
- Familiarity with vehicle electrical harness assembly and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to interpret 2D harness prints.
- Experience with battery pack integration into vehicles.
- Knowledge of electrical system standards (UN, UL, SAE, ISO, FMVSS).
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and proactive approach.
- Knowledge and experience in the Agriculture and Construction domains.
- Master's degree in Engineering.
