Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve food in an attractive manner
  • Prepare and serve between meal drinks and snacks to residents
  • Wash dishes, clean equipment, and maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment
  • Report problems to the Cook or Supervisor and check with them about substitutions for foods residents do not like
  • Assist with food preparation, setup, and cleanup
  • Load, operate, and unload the dishwasher
  • Put away dishes when dry and wash and clean equipment, refrigerators, and work areas
  • Clear dining room tables after meals and sweep, vacuum, and mop floors
  • Arrange and clean dining room chairs and tables
  • Prepare mid-morning and mid-afternoon beverages and snacks for residents
  • Obtain food and supplies from storage areas, including the basement
  • Perform other duties as necessary to fulfill responsibilities and as assigned
Requirements
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Some kitchen experience is helpful, but on-the-job training will be provided
  • Must be able to follow simple, oral, and written directions and be able to read and write
  • Must have a TB test upon hire
  • Must be able to stand and walk short distances most of the work day and lift up to 50lbs
  • Must wear supportive shoes/sneakers and have hair tied back while on duty
Working Conditions

Works in a clean, sometimes noisy, well-lighted, and ventilated kitchen. May be exposed to burns from hot foods, steam, and hot water, cuts from knives and broken glassware, and falls on wet floors.
