Survey Party Chief

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Survey Party Chief to join our team at Bowman Consulting Group, Ltd. as a key member of our land surveying team.

• Lead and direct a team of surveyors in the field, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to company standards.
• Perform a variety of field tasks associated with surveying and geospatial data collection, including topographic surveys, road frontage cross-section surveys, and as-built surveys.
• Provide day-to-day supervision of assigned survey field crew, including training and mentoring of junior-level employees.
• Coordinate with contractors to provide survey services and ensure that assigned survey truck is properly maintained.
• Maintain and inventory all assigned equipment, and communicate with management to maximize efforts and man-hours.

• High school diploma or GED required, associate's degree or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Three or more (3+) years of experience working on a land surveying party, with prior Party Chief experience a plus.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D preferred, as well as thorough knowledge of construction stakeout procedures and practices.
• Familiarity with field procedures for performing boundary and ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, and ability to perform all aspects of data collected field fun topographic surveys, road frontage cross-section surveys, and as-built surveys.
• Through knowledge of total station, GPS, and data collection, with the ability to adapt to new equipment and technologies.

• Partly indoor professional office environment, partly outdoor work environment with potential hazards.
• Frequent and prolonged use of data collection equipment and/or drones, necessitating walking the assigned study area to complete data collection over the course of several hours.
• Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.
