Food Service Aide Specialist

About This Job
We're seeking a highly skilled Food Service Aide to join our team. As a key member of our food service team, you will assist in preparing meals, snacks, and other nourishments for patients. You will also help maintain a clean and safe environment in our kitchen and dining areas.
Responsibilities
* Assist cooks in preparing desserts or snacks for patients
* Assist cooks in preparation of meals
* Carry trays to patients on halls
* Clean tables in the dining area after each meal
* Help with salads and desserts and other dishes
* Assist with the pouring of juice, milk, water, and tea
* Serve patients beverages, etc.
* Take meals out to patients in dining area
* Prepare between-meal nourishments (make sandwiches, etc.)
* Clean work area at the end of shift and after meals, including sweeping and mopping
* Remove garbage from kitchen areas and hoses out garbage containers
* Comply with infection control policies in the work area
* Scrape dishes, wash dishes, pots and pans
* Record freezer and walk-in refrigerator temperatures in accordance with established procedures
* Check stock as needed
* Put up stock in appropriate manner
* Store cleaning materials appropriately
* Set up tray line and perform tray line service
* Follow diet orders and NPO diet orders
* Offer menu substitutions and record them in accordance with procedural guidelines
* Properly store leftovers/opened food
* Serve nourishments in accordance with procedural guidelines
* Make coffee/tea as requested
* Follow procedures for serving associate meals
* Clean kitchen equipment such as carts, tables, counters, ice machine, buckets, blender, mixer, meat slicer, freezer, refrigerator, stove, oven, steamer, garbage disposal, dish machine coffee/tea maker, steam table, etc.
* Operate the dish machine, garbage disposal, mixer, blender, meat slicer and steamer
* Operate coffee and tea maker
* Follow standardized recipes
* Use serving equipment (ladle, spoon, scoops, etc.)
* Check and record water temperature (dishwasher, pot and pan sink, etc.)
* Check dishwasher with sanitizer strips
* Check chemical levels and replace if needed
Requirements
* High school diploma or its equivalent preferred
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
* Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization
* Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram format
* Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
* Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word
